Experience warm hospitality, timeless style, and a beautifully historic stay at The Burdett House Bed and Breakfast.

When driving through Burdett’s Main Street, there is one house that truly sets itself apart, a beautifully charming Queen Anne Victorian with a bold chartreuse door and an inviting porch that immediately catches your attention. The Burdett House Bed & Breakfast was started by Ashley Jones and David Martin in 2012, and since then we have watched it transform into one of the most thoughtfully restored homes in Burdett.

Ashley and David were both living in New York City with successful careers in fashion and marketing. During one visit to the Finger Lakes, while enjoying a pint on the deck at Two Goats Brewing, they decided a move was in order and that their future belonged on Seneca Lake. It certainly would not be the first time a Seneca Lake move was decided while watching a sunset on that deck.

The hunt for a home began, and with luck a charming Queen Anne Victorian right on Main Street in Burdett became available. They slowly started renovating with the help of Ashley’s father, finishing one room at a time to begin their journey into the bed and breakfast business.

Upon walking in you realize quickly this is not your granny’s bed and breakfast, this is a modern, beautifully designed home with attention to historic detail everywhere you look. Which makes perfect sense with Ashley’s background and degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. Every room feels special with a unique name like Knickerbocker or Excelsior. They each have unique color palettes with luxurious linens and thoughtful details throughout the space. The house is laid out in a way where each room feels private with their own bathrooms and en suites, a few rooms even have private balconies overlooking the gardens in the back and the Main Street.

Beyond the design and thoughtful restoration, Ashley and David have immersed themselves into the community, both working part time at Grist Iron Brewing since it opened. And we can’t forget about Hudson, their beautiful pooch, who has become a local celebrity with his visits to local wineries.

David and Ashley work tirelessly throughout the season to keep their gardens beautiful and ready to be enjoyed by guests. One of the highlights of guests’ stays is the morning breakfast in their café like dining room where they offer a delicious breakfast spread. The most rewarding part of the business is entertaining guests from all over and being able to share their favorite places in our area with them before they leave for their day’s adventure. What an idyllic place to stay when you visit Seneca Lake, and we are ecstatic to have them on board with South East Seneca.
