Brett Beardslee
The wealth of musical talent in our immediate Seneca Lake Neighborhood is immense and we could think of nothing better than showing a few of them off for the holidays!
Brett Beardslee was born in Hector, NY. He graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in acting which took him to New York and Los Angeles in pursuit of an acting career. The career was happening. Perhaps you saw Brett with his guitar on “Sabrina, The Teenage Witch”, or maybe you caught him on “Beverly Hills 90210”? In any case, the boy missed the country. He moved back to Hector. His music and poems became an expression of the feeling of futility of “making it” in the entertainment industry and the coming to grips of what’s really important when you turn your back and walk away. Brett’s clever, engaging, and often moving lyrics are balanced with his just plain “silly songs”. These songs are Brett’s way of blowing off steam in a crazy world and realizing that it’s okay to pick on each other and laugh. Brett is one hell of a Blues Guitar player and a gem of a musician. He still tools around in his 1958 Volkswagen Bus, Juicy Lucy (his tour bus for decades) We were proud to have Brett launch the 2024-25 Folk at the Farmhouse concert series.
Delta Mike Shaw
Delta Mike Shaw is a blues musician from the Finger Lakes Region who performs with his band and solo. Shaw's music blends blues, classic rock, country, and Motown with jazz, funk, and soul. He's known for his high-energy performances and is considered one of the area's top guitarists. Mike is a student of traditional blues history, particularly the Piedmont fingerstyle, which is related to ragtime and is considered a forerunner of bluegrass. He has toured and recorded with many bands, including Atlanta Rhythm Section, Papa John Creech, NRBQ, Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Drifters, SmackDaddy, and Chuck Berry. Shaw also performs solo, playing blues, originals, and classic folk on acoustic guitar and dobro.
Bobby Rowe
Heavily influenced by classic rock, folk, and Motown bands of the 60's and 70's, Bobby Rowe has been covering rock songs for over 45 years all around the northeast United States. He started out playing acoustic guitar in "wine and cheese" bars in the late 70's and soon became front man for several bands in the 80's and 90's. After spending about 20 years touring NYC and Long Island clubs, he turned his attention to raising his son and taking care of his family, but enjoyed frequent guest appearances with local acts as a side gig. He and his wife, Lisa, moved to the Finger Lakes in 2018, and were unaware, at the time, of the tremendous musical presence in the area. After watching a couple of Open Mic shows (thanks Scott Adams), Bobby picked up a used guitar and taught himself how to play again (it had been a very long time). Armed with a bunch of "new classics" from the 90's to round out his sound, he now enjoys performing in the west Seneca area, playing tunes at open mic, and watching all of his local musician friends perform around the lakes.
